Events in White River Junction-Vt.

What’s happening you ask?  White River Junction there’s a great deal happening. Nestled along the Connecticut River this little hamlet within the town of Hartford is a historic gem. the hamlet features a tribute to it’s historic past when rail service was a vital key for transporting goods and passenger travel. An old locomotive sets in the village square looking as though it is about to leave the station to some far away destination. The locomotive serves as a museum of that distant past. It’s not uncommon to see patrons eating outside a cafe or restaurant enjoying a meal along the sidewalk dining area. The streets of White River Junction are busy as folks stroll along the sidewalk visiting local shops, businesses, Northern Stage performing Arts Center, and a nearby VFW. Also, like Lebanon White River enjoys free public bus transportation provided by Advance Transit. White River Junction has a robust tourism industry with Hotels like the Comfort Inn, and Hotel Coolidge that are near the Local Greyhound station and Amtrak train station. White River Junction while quaint is growing, with several car dealers on Sykes Avenue, Mascoma Bank, McDonalds, and, the China Moon restaurant. Part of the growth in White River Junction is due to Twin Pines Housing Trust, a non profit organization whose mission is to provide affordable housing in the upper valley. They have recently built new affordable housing complexes in White River Junction.

Events in Hanover-NH 

What’s Happening you ask?  The Town of Hanover is a bustling community Founded on July 4,1761 by governor Benning Wentworth as an agricultural town. Not long after, Dartmouth college was established in 1769. Like nearby Lebanon the village green is a perfect place to start a tour of Hanover with its beautiful park surrounded by historic buildings, local businesses, Baker library, restaurants and the prestigious Hanover Inn. Hanover has two villages within its borders, Etna and Hanover center. Hanover is home to the Hood Museum of Art, and it has numerous hiking trails and preserves for those who love outdoor activities. Hanover is bordered by the communities of Lyme, Canaan, Enfield, and, Norwich Vermont. Money Magazine rated Hanover as the 6th best place to live in 2011. Like its surrounding communities Hanover also has free public bus transportation provided by Advanced Transit. Come visit Hanover. What’s happening you ask? The City of Lebanon is a buzz with activity. The Village green in the center of downtown is a great place to start a tour of this historic city. Surrounded by the fire department, post office, library, opera house ,city offices, and local shops one can imagine its early days. If you are tired of driving you can catch a free ride on one of the many Advance Transit buses that serve several communities of the upper valley.
If you want to go shopping Lebanon has an abundance of shopping malls that national retailers call home. Stores like Walmart, Target, Price Chopper, Hannaford, Shaw’s, BJ’s, The Home Depot and many more. The city also has many restaurants including Applebees, KFC,Denny’s, Subway,Jersey Mike’s,and Burger King to name a few. Lebanon also has an airport that is served by major airlines that transport people to and from destinations around the world.
If you are visiting, the city has hotels and motels like the Fireside Inn, and The Best Western hotel. There are many events held at the opera house and on the village green also known as Coburn Park.
